This is not a new war, but a new battlefield.

The proposal is deceptively simple. Ondo, already a dominant issuer of tokenized real-world assets (RWA) like OUSG and ONDY, plans to deploy a dedicated execution layer—a 'fast lane' for institutional traders. Users retain custody of their assets on Ethereum, while transactions are validated by a select set of trusted operators within this private network. The final state is periodically settled on the mainnet. According to the report, the network aims to provide 'close to the speed of a centralized exchange.' In essence, it attempts to fuse the best of both worlds: the self-custody of DeFi and the performance of TradFi.
